Dear Cenacle Prayer Warriors,

First, let me thank you for the commitment you have made to this prayer effort, and tell you what an honor it is for me to be one of the Pastoral Directors of this effort, along with Fr. Andrew Apostoli, CFR.

The battle for life begins with repentance, and your prayers in the Cenacles constantly reinforce that theme.

The battle for life also keeps unfolding on many different battlefronts, and at the moment, the federal government, through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has launched an unprecedented attack on life and freedom of conscience. As you no doubt have been hearing, there is a mandate in place now requiring all employers (not just religious ones) to offer their employees, through health insurance, coverage for sinful practices of abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives, and sterilization.

Many efforts are underway to confront this problem: educational efforts, media campaigns, legislative solutions, court challenges (Priests for Life has launched a federal lawsuit to have the mandate blocked and declared unconstitutional), and public rallies and demonstrations.

At the heart of all of this, however, is prayer, as you well know.

Therefore I want to invite the Cenacles of Life to make a key prayer intention in the coming days and weeks that the HHS mandate be completely rescinded and that all Americans have their freedom protected, so that they can have health insurance that has nothing to do with supporting immoral practices.

I have called for a national campaign of prayer for this intention. Special prayers to be said can be found at www.PrayerCampaign.org. Please add these prayers to your daily commitment and publicize them in any way you can.

The Cenacles of Life can be an important avenue to bring about this victory. Thank you for your participation!
